Evil Dead reboot adds another hottie to the cast

Looks like Fede Alvarez’s THE EVIL DEAD reboot has found yet another sexy victim.

Jessica Lucas has joined the cast along with Jane Levy, Shiloh Fernandez and Lou Taylor Pucci. Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert, and the one and only Bruce Campbell will serve as producers. The plot of the remake is described as five friends who hole up in a cabin in the woods as one of them tries to undergo a drug withdrawal. Unfortunately, they discover the Book of the Dead and unleash demons.

I own at least fifteen copies of the EVIL DEAD trilogy in various VHS and DVD incarnations and despite the cheesy, goofball vibe of the films, they all struck me as genuine horror movies. I have a bad feeling that this reboot is going to end up tagged as “TWILIGHT with demons”.

I was heartened by Jane Levy’s comments that the reboot would be more scary than funny, but only time will tell. I trust Raimi, Tapert, and Campbell. If the reboot is anywhere as good as this claymation version, we will all be in luck.
