Well, we brought you the poster earlier today and now we have a trailer for SEEKING A FRIEND FOR THE END OF THE WORLD starring Steve Carell and Keira Knightley. This must be one of those days as I keep seeing and hearing about projects that are highly intriguing and have been in production for quite a while. With so much stuff out there it’s easy to slip by some of it. The film is written and directed by Lorene Scafaria, who wrote the screenplay for NICK AND NORAH’S INFINITE PLAYLIST.

I’m gonna go out on a limb and say they probably fall in love just in time for the asteroid to hit. Unless Bruce Willis and Ben Affleck are done saying their “I Love You’s” and blow that f*cker apart and everyone gets to live happily ever after.
There’s a few sells for me on this one; Carrell is a totally likeable actor/comedian and I’m glad to see he isn’t embodying Michael Scott in every post-Office (…) role he gets. I’m already in love with Knightley, so there’s that. Otherwise, it looks like a really fun exploration of the “last days,” and I think we have plenty “Debby Downer” flicks with apocolyptic themes already out there.
Let’s call it a “Pre-Apocolyptic” love story, shall we? Anyways, it looks fun and could be a good middle-ground date movie for the summer. A lot less painful than a TWILIGHT film. Or a root canal. SEEKING A FRIEND FOR THE END OF WORLD arrives June 22nd, 2012, so you have plenty of time to see it before the REAL end of the world in December.
