Sony Pictures looking to get into the Seth Rogen Apocalypse business

At long last, Seth Rogen and Jay Baruchel will be battling THE APOCALYPSE. The project the two actors have been talking up since their 2008 short film “Jay and Seth vs. The Apocalypse” will finally start production this spring with Sony Pictures now in talks to finance and distribute the film.

Rogen and Baruchel would be joined in the film by James Franco, Jonah Hill, Danny McBride and Craig Robinson. The script takes places largely inside Franco’s apartment in Los Angeles after the end of the world. In addition to the cast listed above, Rogen hopes to recruit some additional friends for cameos.

Rogen and his writing partner Evan Goldberg are making their directorial debut on the project, which is being budgeted between $30-$40 million. Sony has experience working with Rogen and Goldberg on films like SUPERBAD, PINEAPPLE EXPRESS and THE GREEN HORNET.

Rogen has said in the past that he expects THE APOCALYPSE to be R-rated and has described the scope of the film as “crazy.”
