Tom Cruise may not be pumping out the hits like he used to, as in the last three years all he’s given us has been KNIGHT AND DAY and VALKYRIE, but I think that’ s about to change when MISSION IMPOSSIBLE 4 hits this winter.

After that, Cruise is back in ROCK OF AGES and ONE SHOT, and now is adding another film to his list. Warner Bros. has locked him in to start in ALL YOU NEED IS KILL, a strangely titled sci-fi thriller with echoes of GROUNDHOG DAY. Here’s the plot from Variety:

“A soldier in a war against aliens finds himself reliving his last day over and over after being killed. Through the training and battles he experiences in these time loops, he becomes a better soldier.”

Alright, that actually sounds incredibly awesome. Like leveling up in Call of Duty. How long until he gets to unlock Danger Close and the Noob Toob? Those aliens will be toast then.

But yeah, glad to see Cruise back doing projects like this, and weird title and all, I’m now looking forward to ALL YOU NEED IS KILL.
