Is this the title of the next James Bond movie?

Agent 007 has been benched for a while, but now that the studio financial situation is resolved, he’s ready to get back into action. But the next movie obviously won’t be called JAMES BOND 23. See how you feel about this:

SKYFALL

That’s the name that Sony is apparently now registering as a Bond property.

SKYFALL would join other auspicious single-word Bond titles as GOLDFINGER, THUNDERBALL, OCTOPUSSY, GOLDENEYE and… MOONRAKER. (In fact, the title SKYFALL would seem to imply some sort of similar satellite or space station sci-fi as that Roger Moore absurdity.)

The movie is already slotted for release on November 9, 2012 and will be directed Sam Mendes (AMERICAN BEAUTY, ROAD TO PERDITION).  Aside from returning stars Daniel Craig and Judi Dench, we’ve heard Ralph Fiennes, Naomie Harris, and Javier Bardem would be involved.

Production commences soon, so expect an official announcement in the coming days.
