AMC’s series “The Walking Dead” will finally shamble back onto your TV soon, and while it (sadly) won’t have Frank Darabont in charge any more, it still promises plenty of zombie-related mayhem.

You can get yourself in the flesh-munching mood with a six-episode webseries, which serves up some background material on the post-apocalypse by focusing on that half-zombie gal from the series’ first episode. The shorts are directed by splatter master Greg Nicotero, the veteran award-winning gore guru who’s been delivering high-quality practical SFX for over 25 years.

The entire collection of episodes is available on AMC’s site, or below on YouTube.

The show is based on Robert Kirkman’s popular ongoing comic series and “captures the ongoing human drama following a zombie apocalypse. The series follows a group of survivors, led by police officer Rick Grimes, played by Andrew Lincoln, who are traveling in search of a safe and secure home. However, instead of the zombies, it is the living who remain that truly become the walking dead. Jon Bernthal plays Shane Walsh, Rick’s sheriff’s department partner before the apocalypse, and Sarah Wayne Callies, is Rick’s wife, Lori Grimes. Additional cast include: Laurie Holden, Steven Yeun, Norman Reedus, Jeffrey DeMunn, Chandler Riggs, Iron E. Singleton and Melissa McBride. Guest stars include: Lauren Cohan, Scott Wilson and Pruitt Taylor Vince.”
