During last night’s Scream Awards, they debuted a brand new clip from James Gunn’s dark superhero comedy SUPER. It’s billed on Spike’s website as a “trailer” but it’s hardly a trailer. It’s a strange clip to show from the film given how it’s more disturbing than funny (especially if you don’t know the context of the film, which I’m guessing most people watching the Scream Awards didn’t). Chris Bumbray said in his SUPER review, “The balance between humor and hardcore action is absolutely pitch perfect,” but it doesn’t seem quite pitch perfect in this clip.
That said, who hasn’t been pissed off enough at a guy cutting in line to want to exact some violent superhero revenge? Check out the new clip below. SUPER is set for release from IFC Films sometime next year.
