Zach Galifianakis isn’t being funny in the It’s Kind of a Funny Story trailer

JoBloJoBlo

Zach Galifiankis has done his fair share of work in dramatic films. But that was before THE HANGOVER. Now that he’s a big comedy star, his performance in IT’S KIND OF A FUNNY STORY is being used as a key part of the promotion of the film. Except despite its title, FUNNY STORY isn’t much of a funny story. It’s about a teen who’s somewhat misdiagnosed and sent to the mental ward of a hospital. The juvenile area is being renovated so he’s placed with the adult patients and coming-of-age ensues.

Galifianakis plays an adult patient who befriends our protagonist and helps him along his way to realizing maybe he’s not crazy. The new trailer for the film is online and it certainly plays up the Zach-ness of the film but to what degree? Will audiences be disappointed they don’t get a madcap comedy? Will they be surprisingly charmed? I wasn’t necessarily won over by this trailer but I do have faith in directors Anna Boden, Ryan Fleck (HALF NELSON). Take a look at the trailer below and let me know what you think.
