Sam Worthington soon to be known as Dan Dare, Pilot of the Future?

Wait…you don’t know who Dan Dare is? Sweet! I haven’t heard of him either!

Dan Dare, Pilot of the Future is a British science fiction superhero that Sam Worthington has apparently signed on to play.

Dare has been around since 1950 and was created by Frank Hampson. The pilot of the future is the equivalent of Buck Rogers. He’s also the chief of the Interplanet space fleet, and even though he has no super powers, he kicks super ass (Or so they say).

More recently, Virgin Comics bought the property and decided that Dare needed a re-vamping. So they brought Garth Ennis on to create a darker version of the character. Once Ennis finished the comic, a film was supposed to come out of that. Well, the comic came out in 2008 so the development has been a little slow. However, now with Worthington signed, Warner Brothers are hoping that things will pick up rather quickly.

The project is said to be a major priority for Warner Bros. There is currently no writer or director signed, but that should change soon.
