The winners of the 16th annual Slamdance Film Festival were awarded yesterday in Park City, Utah. Walking away with the top honors were Charles-Olivier Michaud for his film SNOW AND ASHES, about a war correspondent in Eastern Europe who wakes from a coma to find his collaborator missing, and Mark Claywell’s documentary AMERICAN JIHADIST, about what brings a man to die or kill in the name of religion.
Picked from a group of eighteen films in competition, the night’s winners themselves came from a record 5,000-plus submissions. Congratulations to all who won, to all who were in competition, and hell, to all who simply entered. It takes a lot, I know.
