OMG these crazy kids and their text messaging. In what can only be described as some modern twist on the now archaic YOU’VE GOT MAIL, Miley Cyrus and Demi Moore are attached to star in LOL: LAUGHING OUT LOUD, a remake of the French film (BTW, can we agree that if they have to include the explanation of LOL in the title, it’s already a step in the wrong direction?). Lisa Azuelos, who wrote and directed the original, is set to perform the same duties on the remake. The film will star Cyrus and Moore as mother and daughter both struggling with love and somehow the daughter’s obsession with text messaging becomes a central part of the film. WTF?
The original film was released last year (with Sophie Marceau playing the Demi Moore role) and was a decent sized hit in Europe where it made over $20 million. Personally, I think if they’re going to make a movie based on text slang, they should at least incorporate ROFLcopter but that’s probably asking too much. Alright BRB. TTYL.
