When Ryan Reynolds slips on the super jewelry in GREEN LANTERN, it sounds like he’s kissing terra firma goodbye. At least for the majority of his feature debut.
Director Martin Campbell is out promoting Mel Gibson’s revenge return EDGE OF DARKNESS, but unsurprisingly he’s getting peppered with questions about the DC superhero movie.
“I don’t know what the percentage is, but there’s quite a bit in space,” Campbell tells MTV of Hal Jordan’s journey beyond Earth’s atmosphere. “The initial trip up there, the training sessions he has to go through in order to become a Green Lantern. Then, of course at the end, he goes back up to Oa again.”
This raises the question of how much villain time will be split between Hector Hammond (Peter Sarsgaard) and turncoat Sinestro (Mark Strong?), and how love interest Blake Lively fits into Hal’s transgalactic schedule. But Campbell says he’s juggling it all. “There are a couple of bits [on Earth] in between [the space scenes]. I think there will be enough [of a balance between space and Earth] to satisfy everybody.”
