While watching this, the latest trailer from Pierre Morel’s French actioner FROM PARIS WITH LOVE, I thought “Man, we’ve seen this story about a million times now!” – A by-the-book rookie teams up with a loose canon bald guy wielding a bazooka, bad guys with accents get exploded, world gets saved, and oh hey a fine young lass.
But as with any story, it’s all in the telling. And Pierre Morel’s last two efforts – DISTRICT B13 and TAKEN – showed some really mean and intense Euro action (with scripting aid from mentor Luc Besson). PARIS seems to want to continue that streak, and I hope it does.
