So STAR TREK comes out on DVD and Blu-ray tomorrow. I’ve said this before but I’m not a huge TREK fan but I am coming to grips with some form of TREK fandom. I did enjoy the movie thoroughly and I do have a TREK promo T-shirt (though I feel slightly embarrassed to wear it outside the house). That said, I still can’t find myself getting too excited by R2D2’s cameo in STAR TREK.
That said, Paramount did hold a contest earlier this year challenging fans to find R2’s blink-and-you’ll-miss-it cameo. The winner was to receive a prop from the film. I’m guessing, since the details of R2’s cameo are just coming to light now, there was no winner. But Gizmodo has confirmed with ILM that R2D2 is the one floating past the windshield below. No word on whether R2D2 will reprise his role as “Flying Space Debris” in STAR TREK 2 but we can all hope (??).
