Easy fanboys, Sony hasn’t put the kibosh on getting Tobey Maguire in the red spandex suit for SPIDER-MAN 4. Fans of musical theater though should be a little concerned. Word is that the planned SPIDER-MAN musical – you know, the one with U2 writing music and Mary Jane as played by Evan Rachel Wood – is hitting some major snags. Rehearsals on the project were expected to begin in April but now they’ve been pushed back at least until the fall. The likely problem is they’re making a Spider-Man musical but also that they’ve yet to cast Peter Parker himself. And if these guys are still candidates, they should keep looking. The musical, directed by Julie Taymor (ACROSS THE UNIVERSE), is now scheduled to open sometime in 2010. Now refresh my memory, why did anyone think this would be a good idea?…
