Richard Jenkins had a banner year in 2008. There was his hilarious turn in STEP BROTHERS, a heartbreaking supporting role in BURN AFTER READING and, of course, THE VISITOR, for which he’s already picked up a number of Best Actor trophies. But now he’s signed on to something entirely different. A throwback stranded-in-the-woods horror flick? Yup. Jenkins and Bradley Whitford have both signed on to star in THE CABIN IN THE WOODS, the horror film that Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard have set up at MGM. Not much is known about the film other than Jenkins and Whitford will play “white-collar co-workers with a mysterious connection” to the titular cabin. Perhaps sensing our jokes before we could ever make them, Goddard said of the casting, “When you need two actors to run through the woods in low-cut nighties, you immediately think of Richard Jenkins and Bradley Whitford.” Goddard, who wrote CLOVERFIELD, will make his directorial debut on the film, which already has a February 5, 2010 release date. And if anyone out there has the script and would like to pass it along… I’m just saying. I could use some bathroom reading.
