Still looking for that elusive video game that will make a really good movie, Universal has fast-tracked an adaptation of Electronic Arts’ third-person shooter “Army of Two.” The game, released on 360 and PS3 back in March, follows Elliot Salem and Tyson Rios two mercenaries who get mixed up in a political conspiracy so vast in threatens the world. The game was successful largely due to its cooperative gameplay that featured tasks so complex they were almost impossible to complete without your partner. Universal has brought in Scott Z. Burns, no stranger to military conspiracy action films with THE BOURNE ULTIMATUM, to write the script for the film. Burns, who was upfront with Universal and EA, about never playing video games, also wrote Steven Soderbergh’s THE INFORMANT. Universal is looking to get Ao2 in production early in 2009.
