Nicolas Cage’s new action film, BANGKOK DANGEROUS will not be screening for critics. Lionsgate have spread the word that there will be no plans to show the movie to the press in advance of its 5th September release date.
Does this mean that it sucks? Probably. But how many shitty Nicolas Cage films are there that are actually awesome? You never know with him. I like to think that he’s just too far ahead of his time. We won’t truly appreciate GHOST RIDER or THE WICKER MAN or NEXT or NATIONAL TREASURE 2: BOOK OF SECRETS or WINDTALKERS or any of his Japanese commercials, for at least another billion years. But he doesn’t care – he makes them anyway. And you’ve gotta admire that.
