McLovin as a super villain? Matthew Vaughn is moving ahead with his adaptation of Mark Millar’s high school superhero flick KICK-ASS and has signed Mr. McLovin, Christopher Mintz-Plasse to star as his villain, Red Mist. Also cast in the film is Chloe Moretz who will star as a foul-mouthed 11-year-old who fights bad guys with a ninja sword. Vaughn has yet to announce who will play his lead, Dave Lizewski, a nerd who decides to reinvent himself a superhero despite his lack of superpowers or basic athleticism. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the “violent nature” of the film has led to all the major studios passing on the film but Vaughn believes in it so much he personally raised the $30 million himself. Odd that studios would pass because of violence when Millar’s WANTED wasn’t exactly G-rated and that did pretty well at the box office. Vaughn wrote the film with his longtime partner Jane Goldman and will begin filming this fall. If anyone has a copy of the script, I’d love to take a read and see what’s doing here. Looks like a damn good time so far!
McLovin kicks ass!
