Things fell pretty hard and fast for Jennifer Lopez. Not just a few years ago she was one of the biggest stars on the planet. Then came GIGLI and the Bennifer backlash and things haven’t been quite the same since. Since MONSTER-IN-LAW tanked in 2005, Lopez has only three films on her resume, not one of which had a release of over 1,000 screens. But it looks like Lopez is making a comeback of sorts. The actress has signed on to star in the romantic comedy (natch) THE GOVERNESS for Yari Film Group. Lopez will play a professional thief who disguises herself as a nanny to ripoff a wealthy widower. Now let’s see if you can guess the end of the story. GOVERNESS will be directed by Nigel Cole and written by Kevin Wade, they of CALENDAR GIRLS and MAID IN MANHATTAN respectively. GOVERNESS is expected to begin filming this fall in Massachusetts. If she’s looking for a comeback, how about returning to the type of movie (OUT OF SIGHT) that made her famous in the first place? Is a generic romantic comedy really the best idea? Don’t we have enough of those without Jennifer Lopez?
J. Lo still boring
