Kapur for Minghella

JoBloJoBlo

Shekhar Kapur With the tragic and unfortunate death of Anthony Minghella, there’s been some questions about the fate of the projects he was currently developing. One of those was a segment of the anthology film NEW YORK, I LOVE YOU (a sequel of sorts to the equally amorous anthology film PARIS, I LOVE YOU) and today it was revealed that ELIZABETH and ELIZABETH: THE GOLDEN AGE helmer Shekhar Kapur would be taking over Minghella’s directorial duties for the segment. Minghella had, before going into surgery, apparently spoken to Kapur about taking over should things take a turn for the worst. Kapur had this to say of the film: “He told me his film was about the value of life and how people sometimes just throw away their lives, unable to look beyond into the real beauty of it. I will direct the film now — with Anthony in my heart and in presence of his soul.” The film, described as a “spiritual love story”, was scheduled to start shooting in April in Manhattan.
