Will Ferrell’s been attached to LAND OF THE LOST, the big screen adaptation of the children’s TV series of the same name, for a long time, but a skyrocketing budget kept Universal from moving forward with it. However, with the Apocalyptic Strike of Doom imminent, Universal has managed to whittle the original 125 million budget to a still kinda high 100 million and put it on the fast track. Ferrell will still topline the project with LEMONY SNICKET’S A SERIES OF UNFORTUNATE EVENTS helmer Brad Siberling on board to direct. Coming from a script by Chris Henchy and Dennis McNicholas, the story centers on a disgraced Paleontologist who along with his assistant and a tour guide find themselves in a strange pre-historic land ripe for hilarity and hijinks. Unfortunately for Ferrell, this makes him unavailable for other pre-strike projects so let’s hope this one fares better than EVAN ALMIGHTY.
