Just to clarify, this isn’t a story about Penelope Cruz turning to smack dealing as part of a slow, painful shame spiral into tabloid worthy madness. Let’s leave that to professionals like Lindsay and Britney. No, this is about veteran TV actress Valerie Cruz, along with Ray Liotta, Esai Morales, Andy Garcia as well as possibly Armand Assante, Joe Morton, Danny Trejo, Kevin Cage and Jason Connery joining James Cotten’s crime drama LA LINEA. Based on a script by Ellis Frazier and loosely based on the Arellano Felix drug cartel, Garcia plays the kingpin of a Tijuana drug cartel whose sociopathic lieutenant (Morales) takes over the operation and essentially fucks shit up. Liotta will play an assassin hired to eliminate Morales and Cruz plays a meth addict trying to get clean for her daughter’s sake. Presumably, she’ll be seen naked at some point. Because all recovering druggie single mothers are seen naked in movies at some point. Production is scheduled to begin Oct. 16 in Los Angeles and Tijuana.
