Once pitted against each other in a controversial contractual dispute over SPIDER-MAN 2, Tobey Maguire and Jake Gyllenhaal are ready to work together on a project. Maguire and Gyllenhaal are in talks to star in BROTHERS, the new film from Jim Sheridan (IN AMERICA). In the film, Maguire would star as a soldier sent off to fight in the war while his brother (Gyllenhaal) stays home and takes care of his wife and kids. I’m assuming he’s not just helping out with the laundry either. The shite would presumably hit the fan when Maguire returns to see his younger, better looking brother doing the naked mambo in bed. The film will be a remake of Susanne Bier’s Danish drama, which starred Connie Nielsen. David Benioff (WOLVERINE) is writing the adaptation with hopes that shooting can begin this November. BROTHERS would be Maguire’s first since SPIDER-MAN 3. Gyllenhaal has been keeping busy and has RENDITION with Reese Witherspoon due later this year.
