Jon Stewart Despite garnering generally lukewarm reviews for his stint as host of the 2006 Academy Awards, the AMPAS has decided to go ahead and invite back Jon Stewart to host the 2008 telecast as his patented self-deprecating political satire is sure to blend well with the political hubaloo of the year. That, or they picked his name out of a hat. In typical Stewart fashion, he had this to say of his re-appointment as shepherd of Hollywood’s biggest night: “I’m thrilled to be asked to host the Academy Awards for the second time because, as they say, the third time’s a charm.” The show’s scheduled to air Feb. 24 and will of course take place at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood.
