INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL. That’s the official name of the fourth INDIANA JONES movie as announced by Shia LaBeouf at the MTV Video Music Awards just a few hours ago and confirmed shortly thereafter by Paramount Pictures and Lucasfilm at the official site. CRYSTAL SKULL was one of the reported six titles that were registered with the MPAA. It’s certainly better than CITY OF THE GODS or QUEST OF THE COVENANT or some of the other titles that have been floating around forever. It’s got that mysterious adventure feel (what exactly are the “crystal skulls”?) that fits right in with the rest of the franchise. It may feel a little clunky at first, but I guarantee you by next spring it’ll roll right off you’re tongue as you’re saying “Two tickets to INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL please.” As you might expect, MTV has the footage of LaBeouf announcing the name at the VMAs online which you can check out here.
