Isla a Shopaholic

UDPATE – The Hollywood Reporter today confirmed our August story about Isla Fisher starring in SHOPAHOLIC. Remember ya heard it here first!

In a bit of news you’ll hear first here at JoBlo.com, Isla Fisher has signed on to star in THE SECRET DREAM WORLD OF A SHOPAHOLIC for uber-producer Jerry Bruckheimer. The film will be based on the novel “Confessions of a Shopaholic” by Sophie Kinsella. In the film, Fisher will star as Rebecca Bloomwood, a recent college graduate working as a financial journalist in New York City. Things are going well in her life with the exception of one thing: she’s a shopaholic (how’d you guess?). The bills are piling up fast and she’s forced to creatively find solutions to her mounting debt while falling in love with a highly successful entrepreneur she’s highlighting for the magazine. Sounds DEVIL WEARS PRADA-ish but that seems to be pretty popular and quite frankly I’d watch anything with Isla Fisher. Tracey Jackson (THE GURU) wrote the adaptation of Bloomwood’s book and PJ Hogan – himself no stranger to the light-hearted romantic comedy with MY BEST FRIEND’S WEDDING on his resume – set to direct. Filming is scheduled to begin this November in New York.
