Michelle Monaghan has joined the cast of DJ Caruso’s EAGLE EYE. Monaghan joins the already cast Shia LaBeouf and Rosario Dawson in the DreamWorks thriller. In the film, Monaghan will play a single mom who is forced to align with a teen (LaBeouf) after they are mistakenly pegged as terrorists and forced to join a team plotting the assassination of the president. DreamWorks set Caruso and LaBeouf on the project after the surprise success of DISTURBIA earlier this year, which helped make the young actor The Next Tom Hanks!!!. BTW, what’s so bad about the real Tom Hanks that we’re looking for replacements? Monaghan has THE HEARTBREAK KID with Ben Stiller coming this fall as well as the Ben Affleck directed GONE, BABY, GONE, where she’ll presumably try on a Bahhston accent. She’s currently filming MADE OF HONOR, a romantic comedy with Patrick Dempsey whose punny title is already making my blueberry muffin come back up in my throat. It’s too early in the morning for bad romantic comedies. Filming on EAGLE EYE is expected to begin this fall after LaBeouf wraps production on INDIANA JONES 4.
