Cameron Diaz is set to star in the upcoming New Line adaptation of the Jodi Picoult novel MY SISTER’S KEEPER. The film will be directed by Nick Cassavetes (THE NOTEBOOK) with a script by Jeremy Leven. The chick-lit novel follows a couple being sued by their 13-year-old daughter who was birthed solely to serve as a potential organ donor for her cancer-ridden older sister (hence, “My Sister’s Keeper”). Normally I wouldn’t have much to say about a book like this but my wife actually read this novel and hated it. Actually she seemed to liked it in a Lifetime Original Movie kinda way but hated the ending, which was a little to twisty and gimmicky (says she) and that tainted the whole experience for her. Diaz is currently shooting WHAT HAPPENS IN VEGAS with Ashton Kutcher and will shoot the Richard Kelly thriller THE BOX in the fall. Filming on KEEPER is scheduled to begin early next year.
