Do we really need a remake of TAPS? Of course not but we’re getting one anyway. Fox is prepping a remake of the 1981 drama that is probably best known for launching the careers of Tom Cruise and Sean Penn. Frank E. Flowers (HAVEN) is writing the script for Fox and will probably direct. The film follows the cadets at a military school who revolt when they find out their venerated academys is about to be torn down to build condos. Damn you and your condos yuppies!! Sez Flowers: “The political climate and the psyche of the country make it an exciting time to tell that story.” Well I think back to that line from JURASSIC PARK – just because you could remake TAPS, doesn’t mean you should. What’s next? A remake of TOY SOLDIERS? Actually….
