Ever since Rachel Weisz wisely told producers she wanted no part of THE MUMMY 3 they’ve been looking for someone to replace her. They’ve found her replacement today in Maria Bello. Bello will not play a new character but will instead replace Weisz’s role of Evelyn Carnahan O’Connell who was already written into the script. Bello, Weisz, Jenna Jameson…the movie’s gonna suck no matter which way you cut it. The third film will have the O’Connells (Brendan Fraser and Bello) on another adventure with their son (Luke Ford). This time around they head to China where they deal with a shape-shifting mummy (Jet Li). Rob Cohen, who looks to wash off some of the stank still lingering from STEALTH, will direct from a script by Miles Millar and Alfred Gough (“Smallville”). Bello can be seen next in THE JANE AUSTEN BOOK CLUB. MUMMY 3 begins filming this summer for a summer 2008 release.
