The fantastic casting continues on the Wachowski brothers’ SPEED RACER as they’ve signed Christina Ricci to join the cast as Speed’s girlfriend Trixie. Ricci joins the already cast Emile Hirsch, John Goodman and Susan Sarandon. With Ricci cast as Trixie only one major role is left to be cast – the villainous (?) Racer X. RACER will be the biggest project Ricci’s ever starred in especially after taking indie heavy fare lately with films like PENELOPE and BLACK SNAKE MOAN (the latter of which unleashed her famous “Riccis” on the world). Larry (Linda?) and Andy Wachowski are directing SPEED RACER from a script they wrote for Warner Bros. Frequent Wachowski producer Joel Silver is again working with the brothers behind the camera. Filming is scheduled to begin on SPEED RACER this summer in Berlin with a late May 2008 release.
