Cameraless Cameron?

JoBloJoBlo

I have serious trouble finishing the first few pages of a screenplay before completely giving up. Then there’s James Cameron, who not only writes and directs incredibly complex movies, but he invents and pioneers new movie technology while doing it.
We all know he’s got something completely whacked out in store for us with his upcoming movie AVATAR, but what that is is anyone’s guess. And to muddle our minds a bit more, Firstshowing.net recently spoke to Cameron muse Michael Biehn (THE TERMINATOR, THE ABYSS), who may also appear in AVATAR, and who had this to say about a recent encounter with James:

“Jim basically was talking to me about the technology of shooting this stuff and he said to me, ‘Well, we don’t really use a camera, Michael. We’re not talking about film, we’re not talking about HD… We don’t use a camera.’ And I said, well, what do you mean you don’t use a camera. And he said, ‘well there’s not actually opticals when we shoot this stuff.’ And I was like, ‘well, what the f*ck are you talking about?’”

Shooting a movie without a camera? That’s like eating without any food. Consider me intrigued.
