Tyson, Wells, and Henriksen star in Mad Max homage The Sector

The Sector Richard Tyson

A few months ago, I reviewed DAYLIGHT'S END, a post-apocalyptic vampire movie that starred Lance Henriksen and was filmed in Dallas, Texas. Around the same time that he made DAYLIGHT'S END, Henriksen also starred in another post-apocalyptic movie that was shot in Dallas, writer/director Josh Ridgway's THE SECTOR.

Ridgway assembled a hell of a cast around Henriksen, too. His co-stars include Richard Tyson, Eric Roberts, John Wesley Shipp, and Vernon Wells.

The presence of Wells in the cast is very fitting, as he is best known for his role in THE ROAD WARRIOR and THE SECTOR is Ridgway's homage to the MAD MAX films and the many MAD MAX clones that were released in the 1980s. The story:

In a dystopian world, a bounty hunter sets out to capture a ruthless band of outlaws who have kidnapped an important father and daughter through a world of multiverses. Unbeknownst to the Outlaws and the Bounty Hunter is that another, more powerful man known only as The Finisher has plans of his own.

A trailer for THE SECTOR can be seen below, and if you're interested in checking it out the movie is now available for viewing online through iTunes and Amazon Video. Rental DVDs can be found on the shelves of Family Video, Hastings, and other video stores.

If you ask me, MAD MAX homages are always worth a viewing, so I will definitely be watching THE SECTOR while I look forward to Ridgway's next film, the werewolf biker movie HOWLERS.
