The third film in the surprisingly awesome rebooted PLANET OF THE APES franchise, reportedly titled WAR OF THE PLANET OF THE APES, is putting the finishing touches on its cast. Joining Gabriel Chavarria and Woody Harrelson (as a baddy known as the Colonel) is Steve Zahn.
Zahn, who got his big break in REALITY BITES, is perhaps best known for his roles in DALLAS BUYERS CLUB, THAT THING YOU DO, DIARY OF A WIMPY KID, and JOY RIDE. His character details are locked up tight, but it has been confirmed that he will be playing an ape. (Not a monkey. There's a big difference and the people who care tend to care a lot.) He will join returning ape supreme Andy Serkis in the motion capture studio.
Matt Reeves (DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES, CLOVERFIELD) returns to the director's chair for WAR OF THE PLANET OF THE APES, while Mark Bomback will once again pen the script. The film is scheduled to come out July 14, 2017.
