Raven Banner, the Canadian genre production and distributioncompany has just teamed up with Luchagore Productions to produce EL GIGANTE, a feature expansion of the short of the same name from director Gigi Saul Guerrero, which was featured in The Frontières International Co-Production Market. The plot of the film, which sounds like it's going to be a blast, is as follows:
The film tells the story of a deranged maniac in a Luchador mask named El Gigante who wrestles his prey to the mat in a grisly entertainment ritual of thrill-packed culinary prep for his cannibalistic family.
Seeing as there's a distinct lack of representation in the cannibal and luchador genres these days, this could be a real boon. And adding another female director into the mix is always a bonus. We love to see new talent rising from the shadows, especially with ideas as loopily brilliant as this. We'll be waiting eagerly outside the ring for this one.
