It’s nice to see things rolling along for Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan’s THE STRAIN because it’s one of those stories that was just meant for the small screen and I can’t wait to see where they take the series. In case you missed it, yesterday we learned that HOUSE OF CARDS actor Corey Stoll landed the leading role in THE STRAIN as Dr. Ephraim Goodweather, and now, according to Variety, Kevin Durand (above) will reunite with former “Lost” executive Carlton Cuse on the series to star alongside the previously announced Corey Stoll.

Durand landed the role of a once-solitary rat exterminator who eagerly joins the war against vampires who have invaded New York. Durand’s character was my favorite in the novels, he’s just a total badass throughout the entire series so I’m excited to see what he does with it. So far, things are looking pretty damn cozy for Guillermo del Toro’s THE STRAIN.

THE STRAIN is a high-concept thriller that tells the story of Dr. Ephraim Goodweather (Stoll), the head of the Center for Disease Control Canary Team in New York City. He and his team are called upon to investigate a mysterious viral outbreak with hallmarks of an ancient and evil strain of vampirism. As the strain spreads, Eph, his team, and an assembly of everyday New Yorkers wage war for the fate of humanity itself.
