Sci-fi on a modest budget, that I like!

Such seems to be the case for IN WAR THEY COME, a new sci-fi thriller scripted by Stuart Gallop. Lance Reddick’s production company Christai Films just scooped rights to the flick, setting a $5 million budget for the cool sounding story. Neil Corbould will direct. Reddick (“Fringe”, above) may very well star.

IN WAR THEY COME tells the story of a U.S. soldier and his battle-hardened staff sergeant (Reddick) who lead a squad on a top-secret mission into the jungles of Vietnam to find a missing special forces unit, only to learn that an evil alien species may be responsible for their disappearance.

The flick will mark the directorial debut of Courbold, who is one of the leading Special Effects Supervisors in the biz. He won an Oscar in 2001 for GLADIATOR, and to give you an idea of his current work, he has ZERO DARK THIRY, GRAVITY and WAR WORLD Z (among others) yet to come out. Not sure about you, but I can’t wait to see what he’s learned from all the great filmmakers and translates it into his first feature. On a smaller scale no less!

What says you?
