Oh boy, here we go again…
George Miller’s last live-action film was made in 1998, the immortal BABE: PIG IN THE CITY. We’re starting to wonder if he’s forgotten his way, as this damn MAD MAX: FURY ROAD is taking forever to be completed. And now, as if clockwork, another snag seems to have it the production…
THR says that a Warner Bros. studio figure has made a personal trip to Namibia, where FURY ROAD is currently filming, to make sure things stay on course and Miller doesn’t pull a freakin’ Michael Cimino. Specifically, WB’s Jeff Robinov flew to the Africa set a few weeks ago to evaluate the film, which sources say had fallen at least five days behind schedule. Denise di Novi, dubbed a “studio rep,” has also made a trip to the African set to keep a watchful eye on the production.
Of course, this is no strange phenomena to Miller. Dude actually went over schedule on HAPPY FEET 2 last year, barely delivering that film on time. Sure the man’s a visionary, but it’s this kind of free reign and exploitation of such that lead to the demise of the auteur movement of the 70s, thereby giving all the power back to studios. Miller was around back then and should know better, at the same time, I doubt WB is hurting so much financially they need to halt FURY ROAD for good. In that respect, stick it to ’em George, just bring in a good film!

Also featured in the movie are Josh Helman as Slit, Jennifer Hagan as Miss Giddy, and singer/songwriter/performer iOTA as Coma-Doof Warrior.
