Three weeks before it officially bows in theaters, and only two weeks after its HBO competitor THE GIRL airs on TV, Sacha Gervasi’s HITCHCOCK will premiere at this year’s AFI Fest on November 1st. As you know, heavy hitters Anthony Hopkins, Helen Mirren, Jessica Biel and Scarlett Johansson all appear in what seems more than a mere biopic.

In fact, HITCHCOCK is a love story about one of the most influential filmmakers of the last century, Alfred Hitchcock and his wife and partner Alma Reville. The film takes place during the making of Hitchcock’s seminal movie Psycho.

About the choice to debut, AFI FEST director Jacqueline Lyanga said this:

“Alfred Hitchcock’s signature style has made him one of the most influential directors in the world,” said…This film pulls back the curtain and takes us behind the scenes of his lifelong collaboration with his wife Alma during the making of his 1960 masterpiece Psycho – it’s the perfect film to welcome our audience of movie-lovers with on opening night.”

HITCHCOCK will get a wider release November 23rd.
