Ever wonder what happened to Danny Torrance after his stay at the Overlook Hotel? So did Stephen King, who since last year has been hard at work on a literary sequel to THE SHINING. Yesterday, the master of the macabre announced a release date for said novel, DOCTOR SLEEP, via his website:
Scribner and Hodder & Stoughton have established September 24, 2013 as the official first publication date for Doctor Sleep, a sequel to The Shining.
That’s a pretty long wait, but it’s understandable given King’s books are typically longer than the Bible. The man doesn’t exactly churn them out like James Patterson. Not that I’m complaining– King remains prolific (within reason) and seems to be getting better with age. Regardless, if you absolutely cannot wait a year for the book to get here, we’ve included a video of King reading a chapter from the novel live. Check it out, along with the synopsis, below.
