October on the brink? Must be time for the 2012 Sitges International Film Fest!
In fact, since this year’s bash commences 2 weeks from Thursday, the definitive lineup of genre films to play at the fest has been unveiled. Not only will bigger films like Tim Burton’s FRANKENWEENIE and Rob Zombie’s LORDS OF SALEM bow, but so will smaller horror joints like DEAD SHADOWS and SLICE AND DICE, both featuring our very own John “The Arrow” Fallon. Pretty cool shite!

DEAD SHADOWS you probably know a bit about by now, but here’s a rerun: From director David Cholewa:
Chris’ parents were murdered when he was just a kid, on the same day the Halley comet was visible from Earth. Eleven years later, a new comet lights up the Parisian sky, and the population prepares to celebrate this exceptional event. But, as the night goes on, people start to act strangely, until they wind up transforming into horrible creatures. With the help of his neighbor John, Chris will try to survive a truly fearsome night. A hyper vitamin-enriched tribute to the pillars of 1980’s genre, from Carpenter to Spielberg, Dead Shadows is a midnight movie comme il faut, with suspense, shivers and action in abundance.

But that’s not all. Fallon can also be seen in Calum Waddell’s slasher documentary SLICE AND DICE, which asks why are we so seduced by those movies where a masked slaughterer chases a bunch of teenagers with wicked intentions? This is the question that the debut feature length film from Calum Waddell, one of the most interesting signatures in genre, wants to answer. Calling together the most experienced horror artisans, Slice and Die is a full-fledged celebration of the slasher; a journey fit for both experts and neophytes that gracefully examines the history of this sub-genre and provides many colorful revelations.
