DISTURBIA meets THE SIXTH SENSE? Would you pay to see such a twisted lovechild?

Well, Gold Circle Films is certainly banking on you will. THR has it that the production company will fully finance the supernatural thriller BREAK MY HEART A 1,000 TIMES, adapted from Daniel Waters’ YA novel by Jason Fuchs. THE WORDS directorial duo Brian Klugman and Lee Sternthal have agreed to helm, and will do a script retool before sending out for actors.

Break My Heart, described as having elements of Disturbia and The Sixth Sense, is set nine years after a cataclysmic event has left ghosts inhabiting the ordinary world. While most apparitions seem to be harmless, one 16-year-old girl finds herself stalked by one she believes is a serial killer.

I must say, it sounds a bit better than the nauseating YA novel setups we’ve seen come in droves in the wake of TWILIGHT and THE HUNGER GAMES. Maybe since this one has ghosts and a serial killer rather than Gap-model looking aliens and sallow, glittery vampires. Yeah, that must be it.

BREAK MY HEART 1,000 TIMES goes to press next month.

THE WORDS star Zoe Saldana
