Columbia has issued the first TV advert for Barry Sonnenfeld’s MEN IN BLACK III (3D), one part of which especially caught my eye. About half way through the spot, the announcer states the men in black are back…”in time.” The “in time” is what made me do a double take, I can’t tell if they’re trying to evoke Andrew Niccol’s recent sci-fi thriller (IN TIME) or if “back in time” is a subtle wink to Huey Lewis and BACK TO THE FUTURE. Probably neither, as I’m no doubt over-thinking this bastard.
In Men in Black 3, Agents J and K are back… in time. J has seen some inexplicable things in his 15 years with the Men in Black, but nothing, not even aliens, perplexes him as much as his wry, reticent partner. But when K’s life and the fate of the planet are put at stake, Agent J will have to travel back in time to put things right. J discovers that there are secrets to the universe that K never told him — secrets that will reveal themselves as he teams up with the young Agent K to save his partner, the agency, and the future of humankind.
Will Smith, Tommy Lee Jones, Josh Brolin, Alice Eve (below), Jemaine Clement, Emma Thompson, Nicole Scherzinger, Betty White, Rip Torn, Michael Stuhlbarg and Bill Hader comprise the all-star cast.
