There has been some chatter about the future of the TRANSFORMERS franchise; we’ve heard pretty much every rumour imaginable. But what is really happening? For a film series that has made as much money as this, you know they aren’t going to leave it as a trilogy. When it brings in the big bucks, you get more and more.
Well it has been revealed that Michael Bay is in final negotiations to direct another TRANSFORMERS film. However it will not be Bay’s next project, he has been working on a long time passion project called PAIN AND GAIN. It is based on a three-part story about the ‘Sun Gym gang’. The group of bodybuilders robbed and kidnapped a businessman, they figured him dead but he wasn’t and he sent someone after them. Compelling stuff no doubt, but it seems like an odd choice for Bay.
Supposedly this deal is going to rest on what happens with PAIN AND GAIN, and considering Bay has been after this for over 10 years, I say let him do it and prove he can do more than just blow shit up, you know if that is possible. I think it would be better to leave some time between TRANSFORMERS films, but who knows if the deal goes ahead they might rush it. The word is that if these deals happen, Bay can shoot PAIN AND GAIN and this new TRANSFORMERS film could be ready to shoot in a year’s time. The story for a new film would be a continuation and not any kind of prequel.
