The SyFy/After Dark Originals AREA 51 (scope out Eric’s review here), which debuted on TV back in February, is finally coming to DVD and On Demand September 20th from Lionsgate Home Entertainment.
The DVD will come with the additional extra of a Behind The Scenes featurette. I didn’t get to catch the film on TV, but it did catch my eye with its title and the fact that it stars sci-fi regular Bruce Boxleitner. Perhaps with the DVD coming out, I’ll be inclined to check it out.
Area 51 chronicles what happens after political pressure from the American public forces the Air Force to provide a few well-known reporters with limited access to the most secretive base on the planet: Area 51. When one of the base’s hidden ‘long term visitors’ exploits this unprecedented visit as a chance to liberate himself and his fellow alien captives, Area 51 turns from a secure government base to a horrifying destination of terror.
Boxleitner stars alongside Jason London, Rachel Miner (below) and John Shea. It was directed by Jason Connery.
