Get a gander at 2 chilling new clips from Don’t Be Afraid Of The Dark

Skulking into theaters August 26th is Troy Nixey’s DON’T BE AFRAID OF THE DARK, the Guillermo del Toro produced haunted house fable. As one of my most anticipated movies of the summer, I’m sorely disappointed to report our man The Arrow was vastly underwhelmed by the film (stay tuned for his review shortly). Oh well, here’s a pair of new clips from the film for you to check out anyway!

In the first clip, “Set Us Free”, watch our young female lead come face to face with an odious ghouls dwelling in her basement. They seem indentured and what to be let free. Will the girl oblige?

Second up is something called “They Don’t Like Break Lights.” In this clip you’ll see Katie Holmes’ character try to mollify her “imaginative” child, even if it means indulging in the wild specifics with which her daughter describes the unwelcomed housemates.

While exploring the sprawling estate, the young girl discovers a hidden basement, undisturbed since the strange disappearance of the mansion’s builder a century ago. When Sally unwittingly lets loose a race of ancient, dark-dwelling creatures who conspire to drag her down into the mysterious house’s bottomless depths, she must convince Alex and Kim that it’s not a fantasy—before the evil lurking in the dark consumes them all.
