From one 1985 novel in ENDER’S GAME to another…
Deadline is reporting that Dean Koontz’s 1985 novel “Twilight Eyes” is going to be made into a limited series at the Starz network, marking their first original of its kind. Kudos to Koontz, who hasn’t seen a novel of his adapted to the small-screen in over a decade. Word is the project is a high-priority one for Starz.
For those like myself who haven’t read the novel – “Twilight Eyes” begins with a character with the self-appointed name, “Slim MacKenzie”. Slim mainly uses his psychic powers to hunt Goblins, a kind of monster that seems to have the ability to mimic human beings. Throughout the book, Slim wages war on the monsters with his girlfriend and later his wife, Rya Raines.
Sounds like a lot of fun, and with the series going to a premium cable network, the more violent aspects of the story should make its way on to the screen. Word is, despite the events in the novel taking place before and in the 80s, the series will take place in the present day. The script is being written by Stephen Tolkin (who adapted two Koontz novel as TV movies, INTENSITY and MR. MURDER).
