Video: 5 character profiles for Joe Cornish’s alien flick Attack The Block

After enjoying a successful SXSW screening last month, Joe Cornish’s comedic alien invasion yarn ATTACK THE BLOCK has yet to secure a U.S. release date. No sweat for all you blokes across the pond, as we know the flick is set to screen in its native land on May 11th. But while us yanks (and the rest of the world) wait for the film to hit a theater nearby, we’ll have to settle for a quintet of character profiles to better acquaint us with the film…

First up, you’ll meet “Biggz,” the youngest and most scared of the tough street hoods seen in the film. He’s anxious to impress, doing his best to be like his pal Moses.

Speaking of “Moses”, he’s the silent leader of the tough guy pack who keeps everyone in line. Without a family, he tends to rely on and protect nobody but his clan of mates.

Next up is “Dennis”, who’s described as the hothead of the gang. He takes no shit and rocks a samurai sword for protection.

Batting clean-up is “Jerome”, the cool headed brains of the outfit. The others take his cues and would be stupid to do otherwise.

Finally there’s “Pest”, the oddball of the bunch. Overly talkative, dude’s basically the comic relief in the film.

Attack the Block follows a gang of tough inner-city kids who rob Sam (Whittaker) as she is walking home in a scary South London tower block. She flees when the gang is attacked by a small alien creature which falls from the sky. While Sam and the police hunt for the gang, a second wave of creatures falls. The gang grabs weapons, mount bikes, and set out to defend their turf. But this time, the creatures are much bigger. Savage and bestial, nothing will stand in their way. And the bunch of no-hope kids who just attacked Sam are about to become her only hope.
