Our man Arnold The Schwarz must have heard the negative buzz rabid fanboys expressed over the dreadful looking GOVERNATOR cartoon, because he’s now apparently not only in talks to star in LAST STAND for Kim Jee-woon, but THE TOMB for Antoine Fuqua. More his speed, right?
Word comes from Variety, who claims Schwarzenegger has had several discussions-of-interest with Summit Entertainment and Fuqua over the possibility of starring in THE TOMB, which follows an authority on structural security who’s framed for a crime and put in a high-security prison that he designed. Like I said, more the man’s speed!
The thing is, with Fuqua (TRAINING DAY, BROOKLYN’S FINEST), attached to making a Tupac Shakur biopic, the scheduling could be an issue. Universal and Morgan Creek want the Tupac flick to be shot this summer, which would postpone THE TOMB for a later date, and in the interim, Arnie may very well commit to other projects. Whether that opens the door for LAST STAND is anyone’s guess, as word has it that Schwarz hasn’t even met with Kim Jee-woon yet.
As for THE TOMB, the script was written by Miles Chapman (PROTECTION) and Jason Keller (MACHINE GUN PREACHER).
Okay, all of this talk is still in its infancy, so let’s just poll the readers. Would you like to see Arnold work with Kim Jee-woon on LAST STAND or Antoine Fuqua on THE TOMB? Both are better than THE GOVERNATOR, right?
